Four violent events occurred within the last two days in Elkhart.
On Monday, WSBT first brought you breaking news at 5 and 6 of a stabbing, followed by a separate shooting that injured a 14-year-old.
Sunday night, two men were shot and injured on East Jackson Boulevard and on Sunday morning a 17-year-old was killed in a police-involved shooting. 17-year-old, Bryan Axel Ramirez Gomez, was identified by his brother.
City officials are holding a news conference on Wednesday at 2 pm. They say they’ll discuss the investigation timeline.
A memorial for the teen has been established near the scene.
“If I had to summit up in one word I would probably say it’s just unfortunate,” said Isiah Miller, Assistant Director Genai Excellence academy.
Miller said he heard about the shootings impacting kids. He wishes there were more outlets for youth to be involved in.
“Different outreach programs and different things after school activities, different aftercare programs that set up for our kids and for our youth. I believe if we did have more of that in the community, I think that we could probably see a decrease in the violence,” said Miller.
But Miller says it starts with community leaders.
“I think the leaders need to come together. We have to figure out a plan on how to tap into these youth. They have to see a start from up top at first, so, I think if the community leaders can get in front of this get on top of this and come together with some type of plan of action I think that that’s a good way to get the youth to follow behind,” said Miller.
Elkhart police say no arrests have been made in connection with the two men shot on Sunday or the 14-year-old.
If you have any information you are asked to contact police.

Imagine ALWAYS jumping to defend criminals as a reaction. You’d have to be pretty worthless…
